The Playwrights Union invites you to our second annual Reading Festival of New Work, plays drafted during our February Writing Challenge. Come hear brand new work by five of our current members and join us for refreshments at Son of Semele Ensemble!

FRIDAY, JUNE 10

A comedy about drama and authenticity that swaps out reality for what we need to believe is real. As three very different women wait for a rugby match to begin, they grapple with their motives and their pasts to find common ground. Directed by Eric Bloom

A comical-tragical play that tells the story of the fall of Jennifer Trapp, managing editor of Very Simple, America’s #1 monthly magazine about creating a simplified domestic life. Directed by Paul Willis

by Larry Pontius

The darkly comic story of boy meeting girl, who should never have met. Chet and Stacey think they like each other, their best friends know better. But, come on, it’s hard to find someone . . . Directed by Alexis Chamow

THE WHITE EAGLE
by Marek Glinski

A teenager named Johnny crashes a tea party, threatens to destroy the reputation of the most beloved surviving statesman of the Polish republic, weathers a vicious assault by a small boy, fails to start a fire, fails to put one out, and tries to get a date with his lifelong crush. Directed by Sarah Gurfield

by Lisa Kenner

A solo performance piece that follows one woman’s journey to hell and back in her quest to save her greatest asset. Directed by Jen Bloom
