PRIYA MOHANTY

Priya is an actor and writer. She moved from India in 2008 to go to business school and worked in the corporate world for a while when a dare from a friend led to a complete pivot into the artist life. Priya started her artistic career as an actor but after seeing a dearth of immigrant representation in media, she started writing to give a voice to the immigrant experience. She wrote, produced and acted in the pilot for her web series ‘FOBia’ – a comedy about being a ‘fresh off the boat’ immigrant in America – that featured in many festivals. Her scripts have placed in Atlanta Film Festival, Screencraft, WeScreenplay, Cinequest and Outstanding Screenplays.

Priya is a graduate of the School a Steppenwolf. She received a BroadwayWorld nomination for her performance in the world premier of ‘Queen’ and has also appeared in TV shows such as ‘Chicago Med’ and ‘Next’.

Priya is a recent transplant to California and lives in Santa Clarita with her husband and two young kids.
