JUAN FRANCISCO VILLA

Juan Francisco Villa is a Colombian-American award-winning published writer who grew up in The Lower East Side of NYC and currently resides in Los Angeles by way of Chicago.

In 2022 and 2023, he was a recipient of the Read Latinx Writers Initiative with his TV pilots THE TAINO LEGACY and BATTY. He is a 4-time recipient of the Chicago DCASE grant to develop his work and a PBS Latino New Media Finalist.

His solo play, Empanada for a Dream, was remounted for a 2022 sold out extended Producers Pick run for the Hollywood Fringefest. EFAD has been presented in NYC, Chicago, DC, and LA while cracking The Top Ten Shows to See for the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Reader and Los Angeles Times. He was commissioned to write his next solo play, Finding Pancho, which chronicles searching for his father who disappeared in Colombia.

His scripts have received an 8 evaluation from the Blacklist and reached Coverfly’s Top 8% of ALL scripts and Top 20 Fantasy scripts for 2022.

He has graced the top stages across the country such as The Public Theater (NYC), Steppenwolf (Chicago), Goodman (Chicago), Victory Gardens (CHI), Teatro Vista (CHI), INTAR (NYC) and Geffen (LA).

He’s also a TV actor with a recur role as the villain on Blue Bloods, a recur as Agent Torrez on General Hospital, The Set Up with Hannah Stocking, Chicago PD and a recur on Little Demon with Audrey Plaza and Danny Devito. He has also used his voice acting talents to work with Ethan Hawke, Judy Reyes, Vivica Fox, Dania Ramirez and Minnie Driver.
